About us

We are a small nursery and pre-school in the centre of Charlton Kings, which has been established for over 60 years. We take children from the age of two years-old up to school age.

The Nursery School is a home from home where all children are valued and their opinions are listened to. We pride ourselves on working very closely with parents to make sure that your child is happy, healthy and achieving their full potential.

At The Nursery School, we have eight curricular aims which we work towards with the children. These aims are ambitious and designed to challenge the children, allowing them to leave us as a holistically developed individual.

To help our children work towards these aims, we provide a balance of adult-led and child-led activities focused around your child's interests and developmental stage. Our carefully planned environment and sequenced curriculum allows the children to build on the skills that they have already developed, as well as learning new skills.

Having achieved our Hygge in the Early Years Accreditation, we make sure to focus on using the elements of warmth, cosiness and nature to make the most of each day. We do this through taking the children to weekly forest sessions and regular nature walks to observe the seasons change. We also support the children to learn how to look after their own mental wellbeing and promote self-care.
